Community Care Development Network (CCDN) is a 501c3 community development organization located in Birmingham, Alabama serving and meeting immediate basic needs, mentoring (youth, adult, and family), connection to resources including stable housing and affordable healthcare, education (financial literacy, math, and reading tutoring), and workforce development courses. CCDN's initiatives focus on Family & Life Services, Mentoring, Education, and Community Outreach.
We were founded based on the knowledge of our Founder and Director, Tamika Holmes, MBA, MHRM. In 2014, after years of volunteering within her community, Tamika began a youth mentoring program called Precious Pearls of Promise, developed for girls ages 11 to 18. As she and fellow volunteers began to build relationships, they learned of critical physical, environmental, and emotional needs impacting households. As an organization, we saw the need to do more. Needs ranged from parents not having enough income to fulfill financial obligations such as rent and utility bills, to unemployment concerns, food, and clothing. Young girls were stressed with having to help raise younger siblings because single moms were working two and three jobs to make ends meet. So, after carefully listening to the voices of the families they were serving, we expanded to include mentoring, education, and life services. During 2019 alone, CCDN served approximately 2,400 individuals ranging in age from newborn to 95.
